History

The ranch was homesteaded in 1904 by Joe and Marie Pratt. Back then our kind were called “poor sandhillers” because by then all the good dirt had been taken. But they made it work, and through the determination and resolve of five generations, we’re on the same land today and have a prosperous and sustainable beef operation.

Today

Joe’s great-grandson Mark manages ranch operations with help from his parents, wife Wendy, their kids, and in-laws. We rely on our community of neighbors, friends, horses and herding dogs to get the job done!

Pratt Family Beef

Most of our beef is sold through a regional cooperative, but starting in 2012 Mark began selling a small portion of beef directly to local friends and neighbors. In 2019, Anna and Leah decided to put some “girl power” behind his idea and sell grass finished beef directly to consumers. It’s a team effort, like most projects on the ranch, and we’re excited to provide a nutritious product we can all feel good about.
